An address that belongs to more than one county
Ellenwood has a post office and a mailing address but no city government, and the area that mail covers spreads across county boundaries. Henry, Clayton and DeKalb all appear within it, and some sources list Rockdale as well. Two neighbors on the same road can genuinely answer to different county building departments.
| Step | What to do | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Find the county | Check the property tax bill or the county tax assessor's parcel search | The county that bills you is the county you are in |
| 2. Confirm there is no city | Ellenwood is unincorporated | No city office stands between you and the county |
| 3. Call that county's building department | Henry County: 770-288-6051 | They confirm what your specific job needs |
| 4. Ask about the work itself | Describe the scope: swap, full-frame, or a new opening | A new or enlarged opening is a different answer from a swap |

Henry County's building department is at 140 Henry Parkway, McDonough. If your parcel turns out to be in another county, that county's own building department is the contact instead.
What the houses are like
The Ellenwood area sits at the northern edge of Henry County where it runs into the southern edge of the metro, and it has filled in steadily over the last few decades. Much of the stock is brick and vinyl-sided family housing in standard sizes, which means straightforward insert replacement and windows reaching the age where seals fail several at a time.

Fogged units across a run of windows usually means the glass rather than the frames, which is a cheaper conversation than a full replacement. Window repair covers what can be changed without taking the window out.
Prices and the glass numbers
Installed, a standard vinyl double-hung runs $575 to $1,100 per window across Georgia, with a 10 to 15 window house at $6,000 to $16,000. Whichever county an Ellenwood address falls in, it is Climate Zone 3, so new units still need a 0.35 U-factor or lower and a 0.27 SHGC or lower. The cost guide shows every source behind those figures, and the permit guide explains the code chain that makes a permit likely in the first place.
Doors too
Entry doors, patio doors and interior doors come under the same umbrella here as they do everywhere else on the site. Installed entry doors run $850 to $6,200 depending on material, covered on the front door page.
