Window and door work in McDonough, GA

These three bring in most of the requests. Window styles, glass packages, screens, sills, patio doors, storm doors, interior doors and door hardware all have their own pages on the full list. Everything here is residential: houses, townhouses and the occasional in-law suite, never vehicle glass or storefronts.

What window replacement costs around McDonough

Budget $575 to $1,100 for a standard vinyl double-hung window installed, and $6,000 to $16,000 for a whole house of 10 to 15 windows. Those are Modernize's Georgia figures, updated August 27, 2026. What makes this page different is that we can show you what people in your ZIP code actually paid.

Home Depot publishes its completed projects by area. Its McDonough page counts 78 window replacement projects finished in the last three years and itemizes several of them, right down to the brand and the number of windows. Divide one by the other and you get a per-window figure nobody in the search results will quote you.

Source: Home Depot's own McDonough window replacement project records, read October 16, 2026. The last column is our arithmetic, not a published price. One record listing $13,611 for a single window is left out as a bad entry, and an unlabelled calculator block on the same page is ignored.

Two things jump out. The spread between $639 and $1,737 a window is the brand and the glass package, not the labor. And the big numbers are whole-house jobs: 36 and 39 window houses exist in this county, and they are why the averages you read online feel wrong when your own quote lands.

All pages read October 16, 2026. Homewyse and PermitDeck are models rather than contractor quotes. Sales tax is left out of every row here on purpose: the 8.9 percent figure that circulates on cost pages is a City of Atlanta rate, not a Henry County one.

The full breakdown, including what drives a quote up and how the financing offers compare, is in the McDonough window replacement cost guide.

Reading the national brands' offers before you sit through one

Not one of the four national brands advertising to McDonough publishes a price for a window. They publish offers instead, and the numbers that matter are in the fine print under them. These are their own words, read from their own pages in October 2026.

Renewal by Andersen, Greater Georgia

“Buy One Window or Door, Get One 40% Off, with no money down, no payments and no interest for one year.”

Its own fine print sets the 40 percent against the lowest priced product in the purchase, and quotes rates of 15.85 to 21.19 percent APR on interest rates of 17.99 to 29.99 percent. The worked example it publishes: for every $1,000 financed at 29.99 percent, twelve payments of $0 followed by 84 payments of $28.29. Multiply that out and $1,000 financed repays $2,376.36.

Champion

“Buy 2 Windows, Get 2 Free, through its membership program.”

The offer needs a minimum purchase of four windows, and the financing fine print quotes 29.49 percent APR accruing during the promotional period. Its own pricing page never gives a Champion price, only an industry range of $600 to $4,200 for a vinyl replacement window. Its McDonough page says it serves the town from its Atlanta showroom.

Window World of Atlanta

“0 percent interest financing for up to 36 months.”

Deferred interest, by its own wording: interest is charged to the account from the purchase date if the balance is not paid in full within the promotional period. Pay it off a month late and the interest comes back to the start.

Pinnacle Home Improvements

“Windows starting at $99 a month.”

The example is based on a qualifying six-window purchase. No APR, no term and no total appear beside it, so there is no way to work out what six windows cost. A monthly figure without a term is not a price.

Quoted from each company's own public pages, October 2026. The $2,376.36 is our multiplication of Renewal by Andersen's published 84 payments of $28.29; every other figure is theirs. We say nothing about the license numbers printed in Champion's McDonough fine print, which are in a format we could not verify. None of this means a national brand is the wrong choice. It means you should ask for a total, a term and an APR before you sign one.

The two numbers Georgia cares about: U-factor and SHGC

In Henry County a replacement window has to come in at a 0.35 U-factor or lower and a 0.27 solar heat gain coefficient or lower. Henry County confirms Climate Zone 3 on its own residential energy code compliance affidavit, and those figures come from the Georgia-amended energy code for that zone. The 0.27 is Georgia's own amendment rather than the national number, which is why a window spec'd for a northern state can be the wrong window here.

U-factor is how much heat moves through the whole unit. SHGC is how much of the sun's heat it lets in, and as the Department of Energy puts it, the lower the SHGC the less solar heat the window lets in. In a state NOAA describes as having long, hot and humid summers, with the Atlanta area averaging seven days a year above 95 degrees, SHGC is the number that shows up on a July power bill.

Energy efficient windows in McDonough GA covers the glass packages, the ENERGY STAR numbers that sit above code, and what the Department of Energy says about low-E coatings and fading.

Three local rules that catch McDonough window jobs

Two permit offices, not one

Inside the city limits it is the City of McDonough Building and Inspection Division on Keys Ferry Street, 678-782-6224. Everywhere else in the county it is Henry County Building and Plan Review on Henry Parkway, 770-288-6051. They publish different minimum fees, and the county's own portal and fee schedule do not agree with each other.

Bedroom windows have to open wide enough

Swap a bedroom window for a smaller unit and you can take the room below the escape-opening minimums: 5.7 square feet of clear opening, 24 inches of clear height, 20 inches of clear width, sill no more than 44 inches up. This is the detail insert replacements quietly eat into.

Your covenants may have a say

Several McDonough subdivisions run recorded covenants with an architectural review step for anything that materially changes the outside of the house. Most never use the word window, which is exactly why people get caught. Lake Dow North's documents name doors and windows outright.

About McDonough Window Pros

McDonough Window Pros is a free quote form, a phone number and a research library for home window and door work in Henry County. The form asks four things: your name, a phone number, where the house is and what you need. A local contractor we have vetted for quality work handles the jobs that come through it.

Everything else on this site is work you can use before anyone comes out: permit rules read from the two offices that issue them, prices with the date each source published them, the Georgia energy code figures your new units have to meet, and the escape-opening dimensions that decide whether a bedroom is still legal after a swap. Where a source could not be verified, the page says so instead of guessing.

Window replacement in McDonough GA: frequently asked questions

What is the average cost to install a replacement window?

Published Georgia figures for one installed window run from about $400 to $2,700, and most standard vinyl double-hung units land between $575 and $1,100. Modernize puts a basic window at $575 to $1,000, mid-range at $825 to $1,300 and high-end at $1,250 to $2,700 (updated August 27, 2026). Homewyse models $632 to $967 per window (May 2026). HomeScore's Georgia page starts vinyl at $400 to $700 installed.

What is the average cost to replace windows in Georgia?

For a whole house, plan on $6,000 to $16,000 for 10 to 15 windows, which is Modernize's own Georgia figure (August 27, 2026). PermitDeck's Georgia model puts a project at $3,514 to $7,594 with an average of $5,256. Five real Home Depot jobs in the 30252 and 30253 ZIP codes ran from $3,523 for 4 windows up to $61,138 for 36.

Who has the best prices for window replacement?

Nobody can answer that without quotes, because not one of the four national brands advertising in McDonough publishes a window price. Champion's own pricing page gives an industry range of $600 to $4,200 for a vinyl replacement window rather than its own number. The way to find out is to put the same scope in front of two or three installers and compare written quotes line by line.

What is the cheapest time of year to replace windows?

Late fall and winter are usually the quietest stretch for installers in this part of Georgia, which is when scheduling is easiest and promotions tend to appear. No local source publishes a seasonal discount figure, so treat timing as a scheduling advantage rather than a guaranteed price cut. Manufacturer promotions run year round.

How much should I budget for replacing my windows?

Count your windows and multiply by $575 to $1,100 for standard vinyl double-hung units, then add for anything unusual. Odd shapes, bays, second-story work, full-frame replacement and rotted sills all push past that. Modernize notes that materials are about two thirds of the total and labor about one third.

How much does it cost to replace windows on a 2000 sq ft house?

A 2,000 square foot house typically has somewhere between 15 and 20 windows, which puts it in Modernize's $6,000 to $16,000 whole-house band and often above it. The real Home Depot record closest to that size is a 15-window job in 30253 at $15,360, which works out to about $1,024 a window.
